Hi,
I am Dale Mitchener, lake fishing guide or cruise captain for MLC FISHING & CRUISES. If you are ready to go fishing or cruising, so am I. I look foward to taking you fishing and sharing the Green Mountain experience.
I have been fishing most of my life - that is a LONG, LONG time! During that time I have gained a lot of knowledge and experience for catching fish. I have lived at the Green Mountain Reservoir since 1995 and have fished it as much as possible. In addition, during the 9 years I owned the local marina, a lot of anglers shared their information with me. I love to share all this information with those that enjoy the sport and those just starting to learn the sport. If you are ready to go fishing, I will do my best to see that you have a comfortable, fun, memorable and successfuly fishing trip.
OR
if you just want to go for a quiet cruise on the lake, I will be happy to take up to 5 persons for a 3 or 2 hour ride. No fishing, just a "party in slow motion". Take in the spectacular views of the Gore Range. See the eagles nest and their babies. Watch the osprey dive for fish. Enjoy the water skiers. Every so often you will get to watch various wildlife - deer, elk, moose or bear.

When we go fishing, it doesn't matter if you are a beginner or an expert - I will do my best to put you "on" fish. You are welcome to bring your own equipment or I have rods and reels for you to use, whether it is spinning, bait casting or trolling. We will use bait or artificials, depending on what the fish are biting on. As a guide, I will bring water and Gatorade for you. Sunscreen, sunglasses, rain gear, snacks and lunch will be your repsonsibility.
No alcohol and no pets, please.
We will be fishing from or cruising on an 18' SunTracker pontoon boat with a fish finder, coolers, 50hp outboard motor, life jackets and all State required safety equipment. It is very safe and comfortable for up to 4 persons fishing or five just riding, even in rough water.
Green Mountain Reserovoir is located half way between Silverthorne and Kremmling Colorado, just to the west of Hwy 9. It is in the heart of mountain ranch land and sits in the Blue River Valley between the spectacular Gore Range and the Blue range. It is a storage reservoir for the Big Thompson Project and fluctuates about 40' from summer to winter. It fills with snow runoff by early July. Full it is 2400 surface acres, about 8 miles long and 250' deep at its deepest point near the dam. Numerous creeks flow into the reservoir creating many great fishing spots.
The lake is best known for its trout, mackinaw and kokanee salmon fishing. Huge mackinaws are caught by trolling early spring when the lake is very low. Snagging salmon is legal September- December. During the summer we catch trout on a variety of artificial baits and lures in the early morning and late afternoon. All day we can troll for salmon with various hardware. Catch rates can be quite high for the novice and the experienced - trolling or casting.
I have a good knowledge of the lake as I have fished it for many years. Many parts of the lake can only be accessed by boat due to a lot of private property and inaccessible public land surrounding the reservoir.
The views of the surrounding mountain ranges breathtaking and wildlife sightings add to the fun. It is not an overcrowded lake and water skiing and jet skis are allowed for the brave in their wet suits. On the weekends, when the fast boats are zooming around the north end of the lake, we will go fishing in the various inlets.
If you do not want to worry about maneuvering a rented boat or want some guidance where or how to fish then going fishing with me is the perfect solution. It is a rough job but someone's got to do it.
